Leucorrhinia albifrons – Sirolampikorento – oostelijke witsnuitlibel
Relatively rare and unpredictable species that can be present in some summers and absent in others. Adults have been observed in Liesjärvi and Heinalampi.
Difficult to distinguish from L. caudalis, but L. albifrons has white spots on the edges of its lip. Also, the last 6 abdominal segements are black, as well as the pterostigma.
In the Liesjärvi area adults often rest on Ulpukka (Nuphar lutea), but also sometimes on sandy gravel roads.
I have been searching for larval exuviae, but so far I found only one exuvia in Suurensuolampi. Larvae overwinter twice.
