Argynnis adippe has many large silvery spots on the underwings. It also has a row of reddish silver-pupilled spots near the outer edge of the underwings, which are absent in A. aglaja.

The larvae feed on violet species. A. adippe survives winter in the egg stage.

Although missing half of its left wing, it was still able to fly around.

In summer 2018 I observed for the first time forma cleodoxa. It is lacking the typical silvery spots on the underwings.

Upper parts of the Argynnis adippe forma cleodoxa.
