Usually, E. maturna is a very rare species in the area, but in the year 2015 it was one of the most abundant species.

The species was observed only in the summer of 2004, 2007, 2015 and 2022.

It overwinters in the larvae stage. Larvae can overwinter twice.

First year larvae feed on Populus tremula (haapa).

However, in their second year caterpillars also consume Plantago species and Lonicera.
