Nymphalis c-album – Herukkaperhonen – gehakkelde aurelia
A relatively common butterfly, especially at the end of the summer (but not in 2017). Two generations.
It can be found also along plant species poor new forest roads, where it often rests in the middle of the road.
The caterpillars are polyphagous, and can be found feeding on herukkaa (Ribes) and nokkosta (Urtica)
It overwinters as butterfly. The caterpillar can easily be mistaken for a bird dropping.
