The caterpiller feeds on grasses, preferable during night time, and is the overwintering stage
In females, the eyes are also visible at the upper parts.
Very old, worn-out individuals are not unusual.
The female drops her eggs one by one in the vegetation where they fall on the soil surface.
Being very common, there is a serious risk for predation.
