Dragonfly and butterfly observations near a summer cottage since 2003
Based on adults, S. metallica might probably be the most common Somatochlora species in the area. However, the distribution of larval exuvia suggests that S. aenea is more wide spread.
Females have a typical ovipositor perpendicular to her body, which is used to ‘inject’ eggs into the sandy sediment of e.g. lake Liesjärvi
